Walter is responsible for growing our teacher base among high-need schools. He is also in charge of educating, empowering and motivating our teachers to become champions for their classrooms and for DonorsChoose.org. Prior to joining DonorsChoose.org in 2013, Walter taught high school English in New York City public schools for seven years, including two years as a Teach for America corps member. During his teaching career, Walter utilized DonorsChoose.org to develop literary enrichment programs, health and nutrition instruction, and cultural awareness amongst his students, completing 55 classroom projects. He founded the Kids n' Culture program which allows inner city students to travel abroad and conduct global cultural research.
