Executive Director
A secondary English teacher at her core, Dr. Colleen O’Neil currently serves as the executive director of Educator Talent at the Colorado Department of Education. Colleen feels lucky and humbled to work with the thousands of Colorado educators who make a positive difference in the lives of children across the state. Colleen holds her teacher, principal and superintendent license in the state of Colorado.Prior to her service with the CDE, Dr. O’Neil was the director of curriculum, career, and technical education, for the South Dakota Department of Education. Colleen facilitated the work of three offices, including Curriculum, Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Post-Secondary CTE. Before heading off to the South Dakota Department of Education she called a school district in northern Colorado home. In her Colorado school district, she served as the chief human resource officer, and an elementary school administrator. Prior to her work at the school district she was a project manager and assessment specialist for the Colorado Department of Education, chief learning officer for an eLearning company and a middle and high school English teacher and coach.
