Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

Close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Join an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) instructor and her Advanced Placement (AP) English language and composition colleague as they discuss the students who are the most overlooked in AP programs throughout the country. Learn how AP teachers are partnering with AVID leaders on their campuses to break down the barriers to AP enrollment and provide wraparound supports to offer equitable success in AP coursework. Discover ways they have partnered to increase equitable access for historically underrepresented students, the results from the implementation of this recruitment approach, and best practices for utilizing AVID to support AP instruction.

Rigor and Equity, Equity and Rigor. I run a program that dramatically increases the number and diversity of students graduating college-ready in the state of Colorado by increasing access to and success in Advanced Placement (AP) coursework. These students succeed NOT because AP is some magical curriculum, but because their teachers use AP as a vehicle to transform students' beliefs about who they are and can be.
